Choosing a method collection

You choose a method collection by clicking on the File menu option and then Open, or by clicking on the Open icon (it looks like this: ). You will be presented with a list in a standard Windows "Open File" dialog. By default, Abel will look in its own methods directory, but you can store your own method collections anywhere you like.

You can if you like create a new method collection – though if you do this, you won't be able to ring anything except rounds until you've added some methods to it. To create a new method collection file, click on the File menu option and then New, or click on the New File icon . The file you create will be empty except for the generic composition Plain Courses, which will let you ring plain courses of any method you add subsequently, or rounds and call changes.
